Environmental issues are defined as problems with the planet's systems that have developed as a result of human interference or mistreatment of the planet.
- Soil pollution: Is the disease of the ground mostly provoked by the penetration of pesticides and insecticides and the presence of waste which causes the deterioration of soil quality, death of all natural things in it like plants and crops.
- Water pollution: Is the contamination of water bodies (lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers and groundwater) with waste, chemicals, etc. This is a huge problem knowing that water is what people needs the most, a natural resource that provides health and helps us survive given that our body needs to be hydrated constantly and is not only that we are running out of water, is also that the little water that we still have is dirty.
- Air pollution: Is the introduction of chemicals, particulates, biological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth's atmosphere mostly produced by smog, this damages living things on environment, cause respiratory and pulmonary diseases and death to humans.
- Deforestation: Is the permanent destruction or removal of forests or stand of trees where land wants to be turned into a non-forest area in order to make the land available for other uses, either to build something else that supposedly is more necessary or to get other materials from trees like wood and paper.
This act is considered one of contributing factors to global climate change, trees absorb greenhouse gases and carbon emissions and produce oxygen and also perpetuate water cycle by releasing vapor into atmosphere; without tress land may become barren.
Editorial
Planet, contamination, resources, trash, smog, life, recycling, trees, water…these words are heard everywhere these days, these aspects seem to worry some people, they seem to be important, people is saying that taking care of our home (earth) is essential, that we are running out of natural means that we better stop doing what we are doing.
But is that truth, do people actually care about this huge problem called pollution? There are many pollution types and environmental issues that are not affecting certain areas but all the world and its population, you see people everywhere you go throwing trash in the streets, factories producing smog which contaminates the air that we all breathe, people throwing waste in the water that we drink, cutting trees, etc…Do we actually care or we just pretend to care?
Sometimes we as young people think that we don't have like the huge power to change people's mind, not even our parents’ mind but we should do everything that is in our hands, even little things like not tearing pages of our notebooks, encourage people at school to respect the recycling trash cans, picking up the trash in the streets, making poster to motivate people to take care of the planet, talk to the people you know, make a group or page on facebook, etc.
All environmental issues are caused by humans, we are destroying our planet, and we are not able to see that as we please some of our needs that should be called desires we disserve other ones.
Humans are called thinking men but apparently we have left that aside, we are doing things that affect us, if not today, maybe tomorrow.
We better do something and stop being so indifferent about this stuff.
