WATER POLLUTION IN CRUZ BLANCA SACATEPEQUEZ
I live near river Cruz Blanca in San Juan Sacatepéquez, which is a river that used to be very nice, but now is all contaminated. Well is not only in this place, you can find contaminated water bodies all over Guatemala.
We lose a lot of water or pure water in the world because of our thoughtlessness and irresponsibility.
As you may see in almost all of the rivers that are contaminated there are a lot of dead fish, they don’t even have any living things, there is a lot of trash around here, all this trash affects my community.
Here people used to come and get water to later take it to their houses and they were also able do the laundry, but not anymore because all you find there is dirty water, trash and dead things, and if people would even try to drink that water they would surely get an infection.
This water and it is not pure and healthy but not just for the people for example some people give this water to their herd and this water has a lot of bacteria’s because of the trash that it has, and they lose a lot of money because they sell for example cows and if the cows are contaminated they can’t sell them and they don’t have the necessary money to support their family and that is a that's one reason why poverty occurs so that’s another reason of why do we have to care for the environment in general. The specific contaminants leading to pollution in water include a wide spectrum of chemicals, pathogens, and physical or sensory changes such as elevated temperature and discoloration.
Another thing is that as water comes from wells which may also be contaminated sometimes the water that you get from the tap of your kitchen to drink or to cook is not safe enough to be used.
